Mrs Kirkbride and Mrs Rule
The children in Class Fowey are settling back into their school routines after the Christmas break. Here' s some of the things we have been up to and useful information for the Spring Term.
Areas of Learning
Maths: decimals, percentages, angle, shape, measures
English: plot variation, comprehension
RE: Christianity -Incarnation
Science: Life on Earth: Evolution
Topic : Natural Disasters: Japan
Reading, Spellings and Homework
Reading: every night if possible (minimum 3 times a week)
Spellings: each week, test on a Friday
Maths: one task per week
English: one task per week
PE (Indoor: Indoor Athletics/Outdoor: Hockey)
PE kits (yellow/white tops and green shorts) should be in school all week. Tracksuits and tops of any colour are acceptable for cold weather PE too. P.E lessons are on a Tuesday for Class Fowey (outdoor) and on a Tuesday for Class Camel (outdoor) and the indoor session is on a Friday for both classes.
The spellings for each week will consist of 18 words: 6 for each level (bronze, silver and gold). The children need to pick a level in which to aim for that week; this will help to encourage independent learning. The children need to get all 6 spellings correct in each level in order to obtain a bronze, silver or gold award for the week. The help sheet is attached in order to provide helpful guidance when practising spellings at home.
Don't forget to play Spelling Shed. This is a really handy resource for you and your child to practise spellings at home :)
This year there will be a small piece of Maths and English homework to complete each night. All children should aim to have a go as the maths will focus on reasoning and problem solving. Children should aim to accomplish as much as they can; if there are any problems that arise, do not hesitate to contact me via Dojo or with a comment in their homework book.
