    Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to St Meriadoc infant & Nursery and St Meriadoc Junior Academies school website. We are two separate schools based one mile apart but with one headteacher. Our schools are very much run as one school so that we can ensure we are meeting the needs of our children, families and school community. I hope you enjoy browsing our school website and find all the information you need. Please do contact either school if you did not find what you were looking for!

At St Meriadoc CofE Infant and Junior Academy, we aim to offer an irresistible invitation to learning. Learning is more than taking in facts – it is opportunity, experiences, challenge and much more. At SMJ we plan a range of opportunities throughout the year to bring our pupils’ learning to life and add that irresistibleness to ignite a flame of interest in our pupils.

We aim to offer an irresistible invitation to learning. Learning is more than taking in facts – it is opportunity, experiences, developing life-long friendships and much more.

‘With God's love, our Christian values and our broad and aspirational curriculum we: Shine our light on ourselves; Shine our light on others; Shine our light on our community and the wider world'.

“Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” - (Matthew 5:16)

Our school vision 'Let Your Light Shine.' is known and understood by our whole school community. To us, this means giving our pupils, colleagues and community the skills, experience and confidence to shine bright, flourish and be the best that they can be. This links wonderfully to our school motto 'Believe You Can.' We empower everyone that comes to our schools to develop self-belief and have high aspirations so that they can shine their light brightly.

Both school's have a special set of Values. These values - that our pupils, staff, families and governors voted for – are used daily in the teaching and learning at St Meriadoc.

We strongly recognise the importance of working with parents to support children's learning and the positive impact this can have on a child's development and well-being. We welcome our parents to be part of their child's school journey and actively encourage them to become involved in school life.

Our school ethos is warm, welcoming and inclusive; a place where we will insist on good manners, high standards of behaviour and respect for ourselves and others; so that everyone feels safe and can thrive.

We believe that St Meriadoc is a special place to learn and welcome visitors to come and see for themselves.
