Consultation on the Government minimum expectation on length of the school week:

I am writing to you as part of a consultation process to change the times of the school day at both St Meriadoc Infant CE Academy and St Meriadoc Junior CE Academy.

Why change the school day?

As you may be aware, the government are working towards an expectation that all state-funded schools deliver 32.5 hours of education to pupils as a minimum expectation per week. This equates to 6.5 hours of schooling per day. In response to this expectation we have considered carefully how best to meet the needs of our children and school community in adjusting the times of both school days. We have taken into account the need for a staggered start and end time at each school and including our two nursery provisions.

What will the changes be?

The infant school start time will remain the same at 8.45am

The infant school finishing time will be extended from 3.00pm to 3.15pm (This will equate to 6.5 hours per day)

The junior school start time will change from 8.45am to 8.30am

The junior school finishing time will change from 3.15pm-3.00pm (This will equate to 6.5 hours per day)
